Gates to the Stadium will open at 11:15 a.m. and admission is free to everyone.
The Spring Scrimmage will be a controlled practice with the offensive players wearing red and the defensive players wearing white. The teams will play four 12-minute quarters with a running clock and a 10-minute halftime.
Honorary coaches for the event are Jamie Johnson (Ball State Academic Services), Dan Kalantarian (Ball State Band), Ed Lantis (Ball State Alum and Carmel Attorney), Pam Riegle (Ball State Academic Services) and Karen Spangler (Ball State Academic Services).
The Cardinals return 41 letterwinners, including 15 starters, from a 2007 team that posted a 7-6 overall record, a 5-2 Mid-American Conference mark and competed in the International Bowl vs. Rutgers. The bowl appearance was the first for a Ball State team since 1996, while the Cardinals 4-1 MAC West Division record was the best since the 1996 campaign.
Ball State will open the 2008 season Thurs., Aug. 28, with a 7 p.m. game vs. Northeastern. The Cardinals complete 2008 schedule is below:
