Ball State Head Football Coach stood in front of a large crowd of supporters and fans Thursday night to announce the 2010 football class.

"It's always good when you can recruit towards needs", Ball State Head Football Coach Stan Parrish said during a presentation of the Cardinals' football recruiting class of 2010 and needs the Cardinals did fill.

Of the 21 players signed on Wednesday by Ball State, 6 where signed to fill the Cardinals biggest need - the secondary.

Ball State picked up 3 of arguably 4 top recruits in the defensive secondary by getting commitments from Cleveland Glenville S Aaron Morris, Clayton Northmont DB Quintin Cooper and Lakewood St. Edward DB Odis Prunty.

"The main thing with this group is we think that like the LB class of a year ago, with guys like Travis Freeman and Theon Dixon and young men who can play and play early, that this class has the potential to be that good or even better," Parrish said of the haul they pulled in the secondary.

Also signing on as DBs are Indianapolis Ben Davis DB Jeffery Garrett and Safeties J.C. Wade of Madisonville North Hopkins in Kentucky and Brian Jones out of Chicago powerhouse Morgan Park.

Another strong facet of the class was the Cardinals commitment to a 5-hour radius of recruiting and that commitment ment a vast increase in players from Chicago, a place where the Cardinals had struggled recruiting in recent seasons.

"I have to give a lot of credit to Daryl Dixon," Parrish said of the Chicago effort. "We threw a rookie coach up there and with the help of Jason Eck and Phil Burnett, we did a great job up there."

Not to be overlooked in this class, which only say the signing of 3 skill players, was QB Keith Wenning of Coldwater, OH.

"Now don't get too far ahead of ourselves," Parrish said of his young QB. "But he reminds me a lot of Nathan [Davis, now with the San Francisco 49ers] at this point in time with his mannerisms and the way he plays."
