Ball State's football coaching staff held a one day camp at Scheumann Stadium Friday and attracted over 500 high school youths. This was the third of four camps around the state conducted by the Ball State staff.

After very successful one day camps in Indianapolis June 7, and Fort Wayne June 9, the Ball State staff hosted a camp in Muncie. The Ball State coaches will host its final summer camp Sunday in Crown Point. The Ball State camp attracted 507 individuals, including nearly 300 who will be high school seniors in the fall.

Ball State will host a seperate camp for specialists at Ball State July 18, and interested individuals can register online at www.ballstatesports.com. The camps are open to youths entering ninth grade to seniors-to-be in high school.

"We were extremely pleased with the number of participants at the camp and the quality of young men," Ball State head coach Stan Parrish says. "This camp attracted only 57 individuals five years ago, but has really taken off. Our staff works very hard with this camp and to promote the game of football around the state. We are excited about the growth of the camp and the quality of instruction we are able to provide about the game of football."

The camps include instruction at all the offensive and defensive positions. The camp began at 1 p.m. and closing remarks by Coach Parrish took place at 8:20 p.m.

In addition to the Ball State staff, coaches working the camps come from a variety of colleges around the country at every NCAA and NAIA level of college football.
