Fresh off a 12-2 campaign, a Mid-American Conference West Division title and a trip to the GMAC Bowl, expectations are guardedly high for the Cardinals in 2009.

A new year, a new season, a new program.

Ball State might have had one of the best seasons in school history in 2008, but a lot has changed since the end of last season – coaching staff turnover, graduation of key players and the loss of the best QB is school history. The changes offer the Cardinals and their fans a fresh and exciting outlook on the 2009 campaign and a renewed energy and competition for every spot on the field.

Over the next few days, BallStateInsider.com will preview each position for the 2009 Cardinals with thoughts and expectations on who will start, who will play and who might excel, culminating in our coverage of the 2009 Spring Game on April 11th and expectations for the 2009 season.

Expectations are high and fans are ready for more success as the newest Cardinal football team takes the field.

With the turnover in staff and graduation of key starters, many players have seen their roles change as well as their positions on the field. We will try our best to highlight who is where on the field this season and what it will mean.

Stay tuned as this promises to be another exciting season as the Ball State Football Program continues to progress into a nationally prominent football program.
