Crawford named West Division POW

Ball State's 31-year-old DE was honored by the Mid American Conference this week for his stellar play in a 27-21 victory over Northern Illinois.

Sophomore defensive end Brandon Crawford (Ft. Wayne, Ind./South) of the Ball State University football team has been named Mid-American Conference West Division Defensive Player of the Week. The announcement was made by the league office today.

This is the third time in Crawford's career he has earned the weekly honors. Crawford helped the Cardinals to a 27-21 win at Northern Illinois Saturday, which secured them a co-championship in the MAC West Division. In the win, Crawford managed five tackles, three of those were sacks that totaled minus 29-yards. He broke up two passes and forced a fumble.

Ball State football ended the season at 7-5 and improved to 5-2 in the MAC. Ball State has posted its best record (7-5) since 2002 when the Cardinals ended the season at 6-6.
