Taking a break from the Mid-American Conference the Ball State football team defeated Western Kentucky 35-12. It was homecoming in Muncie, Ind. and Ball State fans poured into the Scheumann Stadium to watch the Cardinals win on homecoming for the first time since the early 2000s.

Ball State struggled in the second quarter losing two fumbles, and throwing an interception which allowed Western Kentucky to go into halftime down only 14-12. “You're going to have bad quarters and bad plays, and you just have to move on,” quarterback Nate Davis said. “You have to say, 'That's over. That's in the past.' You have to look ahead.” Ball State came out firing in the third quarter scoring two touchdowns and stretching its lead to 28-12 going into the final quarter. Quarterback Nate Davis lead the way for the Cardinals. He completed 21 of 31 passes for 288 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception on a tipped pass. Davis now has seven 250-yard games, a Ball State single-season record, and 18 touchdown passes, tying the Ball State single-season record. Of Davis’ 21 completions 12 went to Dante Love and Darius Hill. The two combined for 164 yards, and Love caught a perfectly thrown ball in the corner of the endzone for a 40-yard touchdown in the first quarter. The Ball State defense allowed just 12 points, the lowest amount of the season, to Western Kentucky and shut them out in the second half.
