New Names on Ball State Recruiting Board

As the 2014 recruiting class winds down, Ball State reportedly offers three new prospects.

Despite holding verbal commitments from 15 prospects in a expectedly small Class of 2014, the Ball State Cardinals are not completely done recruiting and have reportedly offered three prospects at positions of need.

The first of the three is 6-0 212 RB Ron Johnson of Palmetto Ridge High School in Naples, FL. Johnson, who is a big bodied, downhill runner, held offers this summer from the likes of Louisville, Georgia Tech and Marshall. He seems to be a key target as the Cardinals lack depth at RB with the only scholarship RBs being Jahwan Edwards, who will be a senior next year, Horatcio Banks, who is coming off of an ACL injury, largely untested Teddy Williamson and 2014 commit Darian Green.

The second player is 6-4 205 WR/TE Marcus Mosely of Tampa Alonso. Mosely is also a highly recruited player who holds offers from Duke, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville and Syracuse, but is reportedly down to three schools – Utah State, Marshall and Ball State. Mosely can play either spot as he has the frame to add weight and become a TE or stay outside. In my opinion, Ball State would use Mosely as a WR in the same way as So. Jordan Williams who is of similar size and skill set.

The final of the three athletes is East Lee County (Lehigh Acres, FL) athlete Winfred Ward. The 6-2 190 Ward served as QB for his high school team, but projects nicely as a WR with great length and solid speed. Aside from his recent offer from Ball State, Ward also holds an offer from South Alabama.
