Ball State 2015 Prospect Intro: Gage Townson

South Point (OH) QB paid Ball State a visit for their Homecoming victory over Kent State.

Gage Townson is quickly becoming a recruiting target for several college programs in the Class of 2015. Included in that was a trip this past weekend to Muncie for an unofficial visit to see Ball State defeat Kent State on Homecoming.

" I had a great time and was very interested in their program and facilities," Townson said of his day at Ball State. "Great atmosphere at the game."

Townson, who stands 6-2 180, hails from a smaller school (enrollment of around 550), but he is big on talent. The dual threat QB doesn't let where he comes from stand in the way of his college goals.

"I understand that (coming from a small school) and have accepted it," Townson said. "But I just love to play the game and just go out on Friday nights and do my job and fight for the win. All I can do is play my hardest and do my best and hope that I don't go unrecognized."

Ball State is just one of the schools that have taken notice of talented Junior.

"I have been to a lot of camps and have been contacted to visit some schools and Ball State and Toledo are a couple of them," Townson said. "I haven't taken all of those visits I have been invited to yet, I am just glad to have the opportunity to go and see different colleges. I'm just enjoying my dream."

Despite his high level of talent, Townson is quick to lump the praise onto his teammates.

"I think having a good line that gives me time to throw helps tremendously," Townson said. "And great receivers who rarely drop passes help a lot too. I also think that me being more of a dual threat QB helps also. I try to keep teams on their toes with the threat of the pass and run."

As for the rest of the season, South Point is poised to make the playoffs and, in the process, make some school history.

"We are currently 5-2, with two tough losses to two great teams," Townson said. "We have a really good chance at playoffs for only the 2nd time in school history. We just have to stay on the course and execute and we can make history here at South Point."
