Entering his third year as a starter in the Ball State Secondary – Senior Jeff Garrett has played a total of 33 games and has been noted as a quality cover corner in the Mid-American Conference. One problem – 33 games, only 1 Interception.
Garrett was a big time pick up in the eyes of the prior coaching staff at Ball State and he was raved about prior to stepping foot on campus as a cover corner that was going to make plays and take the secondary to the next level. He finished his career as a prep player at Indianapolis Ben Davis with 14 INTs .
Flash forward 4 years later, Garrett enters his senior season without having made an All-MAC team and with that one and only pick – all of that, we have a feeling, is about to change.
Garrett stands as the grizzled and wily old veteran on a fairly young but talented Ball State secondary. With the presence of Jr. Eric Patterson on the other side of the field and the talent level of a group of young but strong safeties, Garrett will get his chances to make plays this season, and we believe that his time is now.
