Ball State picked up their 15th verbal commitment in the Class of 2014 on Saturday when Cape Coral (Fla.) Ida Baker CB Roy Denson announced he would be a Cardinal.
Denson chose Ball State over offers from Northern Illinois, Miami and Buffalo.
Denson is a versatile athlete that excels on both sides of the ball, and while he is projected as a DB by some scouting services, he is unsure if he will end up playing corner or in the slot.
With the Cardinals graduating Jamill Smith at the end of this season, the need for a slot receiver is a big one and moving Denson to the slot seems like the most likely landing spot.
Denson was recruited by Ball State Wide Receivers Coach Keith Gaither and he credits his relationship with his future position coach as one of the main reasons he chose Ball State.
Denson recently visited Ball State and took part in the Ball State Coaching Staff’s “Super Sunday” recruiting event along with teammate OT Levi Walton. Super Sunday is a one day event in which Ball States highest recruiting targets all came to campus for an unofficial visit. Super Sunday has been quite a success this year as Denson is the third player to commit after attending.
