Recruiting for 2014 is heating up. Here are some random news and notes about what has been going on.

Here are some random news and notes about what is going on with Ball State Football Recruiting:

Detroit King trio land offers

Ball State offered a trio of 2014 prospects from Detroit powerhouse King High School last weekend. DB Jalen Embry, WR Avonte Maddox and LB Carl Fuller picked of offers from Coach Pete Lembo and staff after a visit to Muncie.

Embry, a 5-11 170 DB, also holds offers from Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan. Fuller, a rangy 6-3 200 LB, has offers from Eastern Michigan, Toledo & Syracuse. The 5-9 160 Maddox also holds and offer from Eastern Michigan.

Other Offers Given

Other players who have picked up offers recently from the Ball State staff include, 6-2 180 QB Cody Callaway of Grafton, OH (Midview). Grafton also has offers from Buffalo, Toledo and Bowling Green.

6-0 185 RB Vayante Copeland of Dayton, OH (Marshall) picked up an offer from the Cardinals to go with offers from Akron, Bowling Green, Michigan State, Ohio & Toledo.

Illinois WR Visits

St. Charles, IL (East) WR Brannon Barry visited Ball State on Thursday this week. Barry, who is 6-4 195, is still looking for his first offer.

Preferred Walk-on Added

Ball State picked up a preferred walk-on recently when South Bend, IN (Washington) pass rushing specialist DeVonte Hughes agreed to come play for the Cardinals.

Hughes, a 6-1 215 LB/DE, was one of the state of Indiana's top pass rushers each of the past two seasons.
